Job Description
DESE Research, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer – Performance Analyst to join our team in Huntsville, Alabama . The selected candidate will develop, benchmark, and utilize physics-based simulations to analyze and derive system performance requirements for integrated multi-phenomenology sensors, battle management command and control systems, and weapon systems. The role involves collaborating within a high-performing Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) team to advance modeling, simulation, and analytical capabilities that support system performance assessment and requirements development.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and apply medium-fidelity and first-principles physics-based models to evaluate system and subsystem performance.
Conduct analytical studies supporting the definition and verification of system performance requirements.
Support development of analytical tools, frameworks, and simulation architectures to enhance performance analysis capabilities.
Lead and contribute to analysis planning, execution, and results documentation.
Collaborate with team Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure technical quality and accuracy of analytical products.
Participate in technical reviews and meetings, presenting analysis findings and performance insights to stakeholders.
Contribute to the integration of analytical modeling and performance assessment within Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environments.
Prepare technical briefings, reports, and documentation supporting requirements development and performance verification activities.
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics required.
Equivalent degree with significant reliability, maintainability, availability (RMA) or systems engineering experience will be considered.
Demonstrated experience using numerical modeling and simulation tools to analyze complex system performance.
Proficiency in high-level programming environments such as MATLAB or Python required (other languages acceptable).
Experience modeling or analyzing integrated defense systems and subsystems such as EO/IR sensors, RF/radar sensors, kill vehicles, interceptors, space systems, threats and countermeasures, or command and control systems.
Strong understanding of system performance metrics, analysis methods, and modeling fidelity tradeoffs.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated critical thinking ability.
Excellent technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
Familiarity with MBSE principles and their integration with analytical modeling preferred.
Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple technical tasks and priorities simultaneously.
Active DoD Secret Clearance required (Top Secret preferred).
