Senior Payroll Manager

A large, publicly traded organization is seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to support its Shared Services payroll function in Houston. This role oversees a complex, high-volume U.S. and Canadian payroll operation and reports to the Payroll Director.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-volume payroll operations supporting 10,000+ employees across the U.S. and Canada
• Manage 50+ EINs and 100+ pay groups across weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles
• Oversee and develop a 24-person payroll team
• Ensure compliance with SOX, internal controls, and wage and hour regulations
• Partner closely with HR, Accounting, Benefits, and external vendors
• Support ongoing payroll system integrations (Oracle and Dayforce)
• Maintain accuracy, timeliness, and strong service levels in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• ACTIVE CPP certification – required
• 7+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume environment (10,000+ employees)
• 3+ years in a payroll leadership role
• Multi-state payroll experience (California required)
• Canadian payroll experience required
• Experience leading large teams through change and ambiguity
• Public company experience preferred
