Continental Tide is searching for skilled
Marine Electricians II for our Fleet Services in Norfolk, VA. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repairs, modernization and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.

Essential duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: \n - Inspecting, repairing, installing, modifying, and maintaining electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment.
\n - Setting up, checking, and correcting operational and experimental electrical machinery, circuitry, and equipment while adhering to pre-established guidelines and engineering specifications.
\n - Performing component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose the problem and provide most cost-effective recommendation for completing repairs.
\n - Perform and/or verify mechanical alignments.
\n - Perform on-site field service for system grooms and checkouts, minor repairs and system configuration validation.
\n - Inspects and tests electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions, using visual inspections, testing devices.
\n - Assemble multi-pin connectors and fiber optic connections.
\n - Utilize standard concepts, practices, and procedures in industry and NAVSEA Standard items
\n - Repair and replace cables and connectors.
\n - Participating in the installation, maintenance of Combat Systems, PLCs, AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting and alarm circuits.

Experience and Skills Requirements include: \n - Will read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprints.
\n - Repair and replace cables and connectors.
\n - Work involves participating in the installation and maintenance of AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting, and alarm circuits.
\n - Troubleshoot, repair, and install electronic and electronic equipment and cables.
\n - Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
\n - Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance and must be able to obtain DBIDS and be able to access local shipyards and US Navy bases.
\n - Must possess basic hand tools.
\n - Candidate must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, sit, bend, stretch, reach, squat and twist
\n - Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
\n - Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
\n - Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
\n - May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
\n - May require wearing a respirator.
\n - Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.

Preferred qualifications: \n - Must be Cableway Certified*
\n - Certified in "Multi-pin" Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA)*
\n - Certified in Fiber Optic: CFOS/O, CFOS/C, CFOS/S, CFOS/T, CFOS/FC*
\n - Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fiber optics and integrated network system experience are preferred*
\n - Minimum of 7 years' experience as a marine electrician with 3 or more years of previous supervisory responsibilities
\n - Experience with maintaining budgets and material Responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical systems of ferries, dredges, and military vessels
\n - Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Item requirements
\n - Currently certified to accomplish wire way inspections in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items
\n - Microsoft Office knowledge is a plus
\n - Identify and make recommendation to shop superintendent regarding problem areas in contract work items
\n - Overhaul A.C. & D.C systems. Power generation, distribution and users
\n - Laying out of wire ways
\n - Pulling and splicing wires
\n - Circuit Labeling
\n - Installation and hook up of lighting fixtures
\n - Circuit testing and troubleshooting
\n - Writing simple purchase requisitions for purchase department
\n - Instructing helpers, apprentices, or less skillful electricians.
\n - Take and record motor and generator thrust, clearance, and alignment measures
\n - Ability to identify materials and parts required for job performance
\n - Selection of substitute electrical components
\n - Ability to foresee problems, write reports and give suggestions for solving those issues
