Louisiana Tech University is seeking a highly qualified Chief Flight Instructor for its Part 141 flight program for an immediate fill. The successful candidate will be responsible for Chief Flight Instructor duties as defined in 14 CFR Part 141.35. Responsibilities include management of an FAA part 141 flight school, conducting required stage check and end of course flights, hiring and standardizing flight instructors per federal regulations, monitoring all flight operations, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, processing student progress reports, and teaching five classes per year. Work schedule varies with student loads and includes some night and weekend flight training. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree, current CFI-A/CFI-A, current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate, no history of FAA certificate enforcement action, and meeting all federal requirements for designation as Chief Instructor under 14 CFR Part 141.35. Required certificates and ratings include Commercial Pilot Airplane-Single-Engine-Land or ATP, Flight Instructor Airplane-Single-Engine and Instrument-Airplane. Candidate must work well under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, multi-task, analyze data, set priorities, and work varied hours during on and off campus events. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in an aviation-related field, current AGI/IGI/MEI, prior experience as a 14 CFR Part 141 flight instructor, experience with collegiate aviation accreditation, operational experience with collegiate aviation programs, and airline, military, or corporate experience.
